{RP} Arrival of the English Court

Barnaby had found himself smiling and grinning a lot as he traveled with the Princess, his heart filled with hope for the future. Duty had placed him under a great deal of stress before their departure from England and the French Coronation, followed now by the one in Brittany allowed for a brief retreat from his responsibilities. He was grateful that he had a chance once again to be just a man in love with a woman who loved him in return while traveling.

When the coachman called down, he looked out out at Nantes Castle, thinking of the Castle in Wales he'd yet to see. Hoping he'd be able to bring home some memento of the joust to display there, he looked at the Princess and brought her hand to his lips, kissing it softly. "I think you've shown me the benefits of riding in a carriage instead of on a horse." A grin slowly spread over his face before he continued "At least when I travel with you"

Seeing a man come up to the carriages out of the corner of his eye, Barnaby turned his attention to him, nodding to his words, before looking at Jennet again, then down at his clothes, making sure all was in place as the footman opened the door "Are we ready my love?"

Meerclaw was not far from the doors when he heard that the royal carriage of England was in approach. Full of curiosity, he walked quickly and witnessed to the royal entry in the castle of Nantes : the horsemen's uniforms, the horses, the carriage itself, all that beared for him a perfume of strangeness and novelty that he enjoyed very much. He thought that, if all things went alright, he would soon have a chance to visit those mysterious islands of England. But it was unlikely that he would ever found himself again in the presence of so many monarchs in the same time and place, so he knew that he would remember those days for all his life.

Cordelia and Viceroy step down from their carriage. Looking around, the Queen of England takes in the sight. She loops her arm though the King's and with a smile to Jennet and Barnaby, they follow Tristan into the cathedral.

Jennet’s cheeks flushed a pretty shade of pink at Barnaby’s commentary on carriage rides, but all too quickly she recovered and looked towards the gentleman who approached the carriage, Tristan by name. Jennet nodded in his direction as the footman opened the door of the carriage and bowed in anticipation of the Princess and the Earl Marshal disembarking the vehicle. She covered the gentle smile at Tristan’s Breton accent with her fan, a carved ivory affair, covered over with English lace. The man’s accent sounded vaguely familiar to the woman’s ear, but that was to be expected. After all, the Princess herself had been born in Wales and raised in Cornwall. Much was shared between Brittany and those lands, including that lilting accent which normally appeared at the most inopportune times.


Jennet rose and offered her hand to the Earl Marshal, feeling more a Princess when she was on his arm than ever she had. The Queen’s nod as the Princess exited the carriage elicited a smile and a nod in return as Jennet threaded her arm familiarly into that of the Earl Marshal.

As they followed Tristan and made their way towards the cathedral for the coronation, Jennet could not help but notice a gentleman standing a small way off admiring the spectacle of the arrival of the English Court. Ever the consummate diplomat, the Princess offered the gentleman a polite smile and inclined her head in acknowledgment before proceeding into the cathedral and the coronation ceremony.

Barnaby stepped out from the carriage, nodding to the gentleman awaiting them, before turning and extending his hand to the Princess to help her down. He noted her smile behind her fan, and the touch of color on her cheeks as she rose and took his hand. Holding it in place for just a moment, he swiftly pressed his lips to it as his eyes met hers, before watching her descend delicately to the ground. Catching Cordelia looking over he smiled at her and the King before threading his arm into Jennet's. Seeing Jennet look over, he offered a nod to the gentleman watching them as they approached the Cathedral and their seats.
